Sweet Potato Donuts Halloween edition

Updated: Nov 15, 2021

Trick or treat? for this year's Halloween, we got a special TREAT! Spider, zombies and ghost healthy donuts! WHO IS EXCITED?!

Before going in detail, I wanted to shoutout to Raw nice for making us ready for the spooky season with their Instagram Halloween contest #rawnicespookysnacks SO INSPIRING to see everyone's creations.

Let's get now working on these cute and delicious donuts.

Ingredients Sweet Potato donut:

Use the following recipe: Sweet Potato Healthy Donuts but leaving them 20min baking in the oven (a bit more than what it is written in the recipe)

Ingredients coating

  • 400gr white chocolate for 10 donuts

  • 100gr 70% dark chocolate

  • Food colouring powders (I used the Started Kit from Raw Nice)

  • 1 tbsp Coconut virgin oil OR 30gr natural cocoa butter

For the coating, we will use white chocolate. This is the unhealthy part of the recipe... however, the donuts are made without butter neither sugar. Hence, it helps balancing the nutrients and the "guilt" feeling you may feel when eating usual donuts.

Plus, we need also naughty bites in life to boost our mental health! If you would only eat strict healthy, you are adding stress to your mind. And this isn't healthy neither!

  • Leave the donuts aside cooling down. We don't want to work with them immediately or they could break in pieces.

  • In 3 different small bowls, add the food colouring powder you wish and smash it with the spoon. The goal is to break any crumble they may have.

  • Add the cocoa butter or coconut virgin oil to a sauce pan on full heat. It doesn't really matter what, since the goal is that the chocolate doesn't get burnt and it can become a bit more liquid.

  • Add the while chocolate, reduce the heat to half and stir until reaching a silky sauce. Then set it aside.

  • For each coating, pour 3 tbsp of the white chocolate to each bowl. One by one, stir with the spoon until getting the color mixed and consistent look. Then, pour it on top of the donut. Do same with the rest of the colors.

For black coating: instead of white chocolate, use the dark chocolate mixed with Activated Charcoal. Same process using the coconut oil or cocoa butter, then mixing it well and pouring it to the bowl that contains the powder. Then pour it on the donut!

For spider legs and while/dark layers on top:

  • Spider legs: Use pretzel sticks dipped into the coloured chocolate

  • White layers: Use the remaining white chocolate sauce

  • Dark layers: Use the remaining dark chocolate sauce

Have fun and enjoy these delicious halloween donuts!! Also, don't forget to let me know how it went :)

xx
