Join us in Berlin, Germany, for 2 days of Contortion practice with the world famous Serchmaa Byamba, Founder of Mongolian Contortion Center and Head director of Contortion Department at San Francisco Circus Center.

In the workshops you will not only learn to stretch and strengthen the body following the Mongolian Contortion techniques, but on top, Serchmaa will give you targeted exercises to your body type.

Day 1, 21. October
Introduction to Contortion (2 spots left)
Time: 12:00 - 14:00
Level: Beginner / Intermediate
Capacity: 6 - 10 participants
This is a class for someone, who has already done beginner’s contortion class, or done a flexibility training before. In these 2h you will learn to control and enhance your muscles to support your flexibility training and contortion. We will work deep into how to do splits in three ways correctly. We will also learn beginners contortion stances and techniques. How to do it correct and get into the contortion training world. Serchmaa will also teach you how to breathe throughout the exercises, since the breath is key to control your body, specially in contortion. This session offers you an opportunity to introduce you and experience a Mongolian Contortion training!
Prerequisites: Splits in three ways (not necessary to sit all the way); drop into bridge from standing, and experience with elbow stand (not necessary to hold it).
Advanced Contortion (sold out)
Time: 14:30 - 16:30
Level: Advance
Capacity: 3 - 6 participants
This class only takes students who have done previous contortion classes or have experienced extreme stretching (e.g. Rhythmic gymnastics). This class is focused on improving further your flexibility, endurance, hand balancing, and overall flexibility training techniques. You will be introduced to the advanced contortion techniques. This includes trying out group routines, where your strength and endurance is tested; and work in stances that encourage to advance your skills. This session will take you to the next performing level, and it can even prepare you to have your own act.
Prerequisites: Flat splits in three ways and possibly can do over splits; drop into bridge from standing; do a pretzel (cheststand/chinstand) on their own. Not necessarily can hold completely, but you know how to do elbowstands and handstands.

Day 1, 28. October
Open Level Stretching (spots available!!)
Time: 10:00 - 12:00
Level: Beginner / No prior contortion experience required
Capacity: 8 - 12 participants
This class is focused for adults who want to learn to gain flexibility and strength using the Traditional Mongolian Contortion techniques. It will include learning the correct body alignment to increase your flexibility, and learning how to understand your muscles and engage them. The session includes also working on your basic balancing technique on your feet, elbows and hands. In addition, Serchmaa will guide you through conditioning (strength) exercises, which they help your whole-body to get warm and get the correct alignment for further stretching. This is a must have class for anyone, who wants to pick up stretching and learn the Mongolian way. This training is based on Serchmaa’s many years of structural exercises training adults. Learning this routine will set you for your next stretching level, and maybe even to practice contortion one day!
Prerequisites: Basic experience with stretching.
